Okay, so as I said in Mrs. Agget's author interview, she is also a Beta, and here is some information about what she has to do in that role of working alongside an author.
Me: What exactly is your role as a Beta? Tell us what you do?
Mrs. Agget: I correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Me: Why did you become a Beta?
Mrs. Agget: I became a beta because I wanted to help authors put their best work out there. For me, there's a certain satisfaction in correcting the documents. Yes, I am a huge nerd. Hahahaha.
Me: Do you write as well as beta, if you do, does someone else do the beta'ing for you?
Mrs. Agget: I do write as well as beta. I absolutely cannot beta my own work. I know that sounds funny, but I just can't. I am so very lucky to have the lovely and talented Harrytwifan as my beta. She tirelessly works so hard for so many authors, and she does excellent work. Another thing I love about her beta'ing is that she doesn't hold back. If she thinks a different word should be used, she says "You can do better." I love that. I would rather have a document sent to me covered in red ink than one with nothing. If there's not any mistakes in the first draft, there's something wrong with it. *wink*
If I may, I would like to give a shout out to Harrytwifan. THANK YOU for doing such a wonderful job for me!! I should be paying you a salary! *mwah*
Me: If someone wanted to become a beta, what would they have to be good at?
Mrs. Agget: Grammar, punctuation, spelling...general Language Arts, I would say.
Me: What's your favourite food?
Mrs. Agget: Hmmm, that's a hard question, hahaha. I guess, if I had to choose a certain one, it would be chicken Alfredo with broccoli.
Me: When you're doing your beta'ing, do you have anything on in the background such as music, or the TV?
Mrs. Agget: I have 4 children and a husband, so there's usually all of the above. My house is chaos most of the time, so I am used to all the noise. I find that if I try to do anything in a document in silence, my mind wanders too much.
Me: If you write, what got you into writing?
Mrs. Agget: I've always wanted to, since I was small. I wanted to create worlds for people to enjoy.
Me: What do you do when you're not beta'ing, in your spare time?
Mrs. Agget: Spare time? What's that? HAHAHAHA Just kidding. Aside from the Mom/wife stuff, I like to read, write, and Facebook. That's about it. (I am so boring hahaha)
So there it is, the first interview for Beta's. I hope to be doing some more soon, just waiting for more Beta's to reply that they would like to be interviewed. Keep an eye out for more!!!
